Another half marathon in the books! I finished the 1/2 marathon in 2:33:19 and I was happy (not happy-happy, but happy enough). The weather was gorgeous and it was a really nice weekend to run. The 2023 Publix Atlanta Marathon, Half Marathon, & 5K was held on February 26, 2023. It was a great run! I finished the 1/2 marathon in 2:33:19.
I’ve run a lot of 1/2 Marathons. I’m getting better at running, but it’s still hard for me. I’m happy with my time and feel like I could have done better!
The Publix Atlanta Marathon, Half Marathon, & 5K was held on February 26, 2023. The race started at 7:30 AM in downtown Atlanta and ended at 1:30 PM with an awards ceremony after the finish line.
The race distance was 26 miles (42 kilometers). You could choose to run either a full marathon or half marathon during your registration process. If you were running both distances then they would be done back-to-back without any rest periods between them; however if you were only doing one of those distances then there would be a break between them so that you could recover before starting again!
I ran a 2:33:19. I’m happy with my time and I feel like my training went well, but there are some things that I would like to improve on next time.
The first half of the race was pretty easy for me; I was able to run at a good pace throughout most of it and only had one small setback when I tripped over something on the ground (probably someone’s water bottle). The second half was more difficult because my legs started feeling sore around mile 12 or 13, but overall I felt strong throughout the entire race.
At the end of this race, I was really happy with my time. I felt good during the race, but towards the end I started to feel tired and sore.
This is a great race to run if you’re looking for something challenging, but not too overwhelming. The course is well-marked and the volunteers are awesome! Over all, I was happy with how I performed. I started out running too fast, but unfortunately I paid for it a little at the end. All in all though, I think this was a great way to start the new running season and to try and get my training back under control!
